Frank Hopkins will sign his high-tech mystery and thriller novels as well as his award winning collection of short stories. Unfortunately, the COVID - 19 pandemic has closed most book stores and venues holding book signings until at least February 2021.
"Abandoned Homes: Vietnam Revenge Murders," is about the domestic impact of the Vietnam War. It is set at the University of Maryland in the 1970s and in Sussex County, Delaware in 2008. The Maryland Writers Association awarded the novel first place in the mystery/thriller category in their 2018 Novel Contest. It is the first novel in the "Hoffman and O'Hare Mystery" series.
"The Billion Dollar Embezzlement Murders" a story of information technology crime in the credit card industry. The novel is set in Delaware, Greece, and Duck, North Carolina in 2011 and 2012. It has been awarded third place in the novel category by the Delaware Press Association in their 2020 Communications Contest. It is the second novel in the "Hoffman and O'Hare Mystery" series.
In "The Counterfeit Drug Murders" a close friend of the two detectives, Margaret Hoffman and Paul O'Hare, dies from counterfeit prescription drugs. Further research indicates their friendsí deaths are part of a larger tragedy, including the demise of thousands from counterfeit and opioid drugs. The detectives vow to solve the cause of the deaths of their friends, and investigate illegalities in the drug industry. It has been awarded third place in the novel category by the Delaware Press Association in their 2021 Communications Contest. It is the third novel in the "Hoffman and O'Hare Mystery" series.
"First Time" is a collection of ten short stories. The title "First Time" refers to events that normally happen to everyone are experienced for the first time by each story's different lead character. It was awarded second place for a collection of short stories by a single author by the Delaware Press Association on in their 2017 Communications Contest.
"The Opportunity" is a suspenseful crime novel set in the high-powered competitive environment of Washington DC and the faced-paced professional networking social life of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware in the first two decades of the 21st century. The novel portrays corruption in the Federal Government contracting industry, and includes the relationship between a Federal agency, its contractors, and members of Congress. Business as usual features excessive monetary gain and sexual gratification.
What will happen if abortion is outlawed? "Unplanned Choices" is a coming-of-age historical drama, set in the late 1960s and the early 1970s in the New York City area during the turbulent period of the Vietnam War, the sexual revolution, the Civil Rights struggle, the woman's movement, and the quest for legalizing abortion. No one now under fifty could have feared an unwanted pregnancy, suffered injury, or death from a botched illegal abortion. "Unplanned Choices" tells the story of what happened to one couple during this era. Situations portrayed in the novel could be replicated hundreds of thousands of times if abortion becomes illegal or is severely restricted in the US.
